Membership

The Fort Schuyler Club, as stated in its constitution, welcomes into its membership 'any person of reputable character over the age of twenty-one years.'

For over 140 years, The Fort Schuyler Club has been recognized as the premier social club in Central New York. The Club employs a well-defined new member approval process: a prospective member is proposed by two sponsors who are existing members. The prospective member then meets with three members of the Board of Managers prior to a twenty-one-day posting period, followed by a membership vote. After the receipt of an application signed by the applicant and two cosponsors, membership is confirmed. Our club, though private, embraces individuals of all races, creeds, colors, religions, places of origin, sexual orientations, and, of course, welcomes people with disabilities. Resident membership is categorized by age:

  • Executive member: age 40 and above.
  • Intermediate: ages 34-39.
  • Junior A: ages 23-33.
  • Junior B: ages 21-27.

Non-resident status requires that your primary business and home be at least 25 miles away from the Club. Spousal privileges are extended to deceased members’ spouses. Lifetime membership involves a one-time charge only, with no further dues or entry fees.

Complimentary internet service, newspapers, and periodicals, including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, are also provided for members and their guests.
